Its what I used to diagnose the same problem I had - cold LHS warm RHS, lots of people told me "If you have some cold air then it cant be low gas"

A check on IIDTool told.me the evaporator was at 20-something degrees, after regas it was 3.something and the system now seems almost too powerful if left on max setting.

I know you've had a regas but are you 100% sure it was done correctly, I opted to not go with the qwik-fit general garage approach and went to my local LR specialist independent so I knew it would be done right.

well I did go to people who are regarded as specialists but the access issue from the lpg plumbing left them as bad as a franchise teapot. As I said it's in for a couple of proper services over the next week and I'll keep updating as we go

so how much is the new BT IIDtool?

BT IIDTool not released for general sale yet - maybe a general OBD reader will give you the evaporator temp but I doubt it.

the saga continues..... still no air con

it went into a local specialist Indie but apparently they don't do air con so took it to a local to them air con place who also couldn't access the LP port and put more gas and dye in there. not cold
again their complaint was they couldn't diagnose coz they can't access the lp port
I posted about my woes on a local 4x4 forum and a specialist air con place was suggested that might be able to replace the pipe with the LP port on with one with a port in a more accessible position, or swage a LP port on.
Took it to him this morning and he looked at it and said Yes he could do the job but didn't understand why I wanted it doing. I said about all the other places saying they can't service or diagnose it without access to the LP port and he said it was a load of tosh and he could get in thru the HP side.
I pointed out that all the others had done this and the b#gger still wasn't cold so I didn't think it was about gassing it up. He offered to have a look on a no fix no fee basis and suggested a local cafe I should disappear to for half an hour.
I returned later and he'd got a reader on the OBD port saying he'd checked the gas and it was slightly overcharged but that he couldn't find any faults. He said he thought it was the compressor and that he didn't think it was running. Fine says I, how do we check? Well he says we could just replace it or you could take it to an auto electrician to check it's getting feeds.
I thank him and wend my pee'd off way back home.
In contact with a few local auto electricians and mention Range Rover and they had too much work, not enough staff etc.
I eventually found an auto electrician that also does air con and the guy that's gonna work on it is a Land Rover enthusiast - that's gonna happen on Friday.

I guess the bit that surprises me is that someone who offers to service cars to dealer standard doesn't offer dealer level service on the air con? Or am I on the wrong wavelength here?
Would a dealer put the job out also?

Its pretty easy to tell if the compressor is running - you will hear the clutch engage and dis-engage when you turn the system on/off and mine kicks on/off under normal running.

I'll have another butchers tomorrow.
It's on charge now after today's hijinks of these guys leaving doors open while they go off to do other stuff, fans running but not the engine etc
I was thinking "I'm gonna need a jump if they feck about much longer"

still not fixed. access to LP port sorted, no sign of pressure loss or leakage; but still no cold.
no faults showing so now he's thinking do it the old school way and test each individual component

Did you confirm that the LPG hot water routing was correct ?
You could check this by clamping the hot water hose either into or out of the vaporiser then check the temperatures while running on petrol - it's worth a go as it costs nowt

I had the same problem when I converted my SC to LPG . I had inadvertently plumbed in the water to return in to the wrong hose. This bypassed one of the water valves and allowed hot air to be blown through the right hand face vent and cold air to the left.
The flow and return hoses for your vaporiser should be tee'd into heater hoses at the rear of the engine on the drivers side.
Worth checking just in case they have been incorrectly connected.

sorry Cass, I should have said - this is a new issue.
I've had the car a year with no air con problems until this happened and the lpg was recently service by Autotech up Derby way who are seriously competent and gave me loads of advice on the Rangie
seriously thinking about getting the iid tool as that appears to allow hevac testing and I suspect it would be allround useful anyway

The Control Input and Output menu allows testing individual components of a system. For example:
• Output: Activating a suspension valve.
• Input: Simulating an input value coming from the cabin temperature sensor to verify part of the
HVAC system functionality.
