United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black

I have a D90 and a good selection of lenses, i find that for general use a 50mm wors very nicely, and in nikon they can be had cheaply, they give a different depth of field so can give very impressive shots.

I also have several lenses in my bag, a 30mm, 50mm, 18-200, 70-300 for zoom work, and a 10-20mm for indoor shots.

I would go for a Nikon as well. Just a basic kit, and build off that, adding lenses, extra batteries and accessories as funds permit.

And dont forget to get a good photo printer too as there may be some point at which he wants to print the pics out....... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

New Zealand 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Galway Green

The really superduper photos can go on Dibond or canvas or in a book. We have a number of books for the kids, that my wife makes on a regular basis, with all kinds of stories about what happened. Plus a blog (for family and friends) with photos and stories that we intend to print for later as well.

The youngest loves to pull out the books and leaf through them and point out her aunts/uncles/grandparents/cousins etc. The time of printing photos in many forms is not over Smile

I have most on my screen as well but some make it into a frame or on a wall Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Don't bother with a photo printer. A photo printer with top quality results will be VERY expensive. Just have a local photoshop print out the prints you want, or get the photo books. Both are quite reasonable these days.

2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I have used a fair bit of Nikon kit in the past....FM2 with 85mm F1.8 got me started but I left photography behind years ago and only recently came back to it...I looked at a used D90 and it was good, but too bulky...in the end I have gone with an Olympus EPL with 14-150mm and the results are superb. I recently had some 20x16's put onto canvas and I am very impressed, being very picky they are not as good as my Mamiya 67 but they are not far behind ! Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

I agree that quite a few of the photo printers out there are pretty rubbish for print quality, and that for blown up prints and stuff where the last degree of print quality is important are best printed professionally, but for family albums (some of us still keep those) then a quick 6x4 out of, say an hp photosmart, will do fine fo most of us, and also thy are nice to had to give to grannys and aunts...... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

It's the lens that counts.
All consumer level DSLR kits are pretty much the same and Sony provide sensors for the Pentax and Canikon's.
The kit lens or lens combo will be entry level and the label will not automatically guarantee image quality (IQ)
Camera bodies come and go with features that are not always required. It's the lens IQ that matters and you get what you pay for.
For example a consumer entry Sony DSLR (£370) with a top of the range Sigma EX f2 17-50mm (£400) will trump the Nikon D5100 (£390) with it's kit lens 18-55mm f3.5 -f5.6 (£142 if bought separately) You get what you pay for when you buy lenses.

Canikons should not be the automatic choice for a first purchase for general photography. Olympus, Sony and Pentax exist and offer entry level systems to match and beat the Canikons.
I used to use Nikon but swapped systems when their pro lens prices became footballers wages territory. I have not regretted it.

the amount of lenses you would need and the price of them made me go for a bridge camera, ok the lens might be as good as the stand alone ones but for 'normal' picture taking its ok.. ... - .- -.
