I used to think the idea behind F1 was to have the best cars reacing against each other, so let them build whatever they want with a maximum width, length and height with what ever aids and engine they wish. if you want to add any restictions limit the fuel they can have and this will keep the enviromentists happy.

Best racing at the moment is BTTC, bumper to bumper stuff is always good.

Live action (for me) is SRC (Scottish Rally Championship) 56 TDV8 Vogue SE
9 Freelanders, 2x 2002 TD4ES, 2001 TD4, 2002 1.8GS, 2000 XEDI, 2x 2000 1.8ES, 2004 1.8 & 2000 1.8 GS (rolled)
91 Lotus Carlton (sold)
90 Lotus Elan (BRG)

I agree with Dan, BTCC WRC Both waaaayyy better than the overpaid nancy boy midgets in F1.

Also, I'd put armco barriers on the corners; stop them straight lining everything- If you're such a good driver, go around!!!

They already have those Stan, they're called Marussia Whistle

I'd ban Bernie, allow them to build anything they want (it is afterall supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport) bring in multiple tyre makers and stop using the calendar as a way of feathering Bernie's (not inconsiderable) nest and hold races where people can actually afford to attend (thats Silverstone out then!).

Oh and have EJ served with a gagging order!

make a rule that says the regular driver's wife/girlfriend has to drive 2 races per season. Including reverse parking into the pits.

Talking of race drivers' WAG's, why not have an option for them to 'perform' in front of the camera during a race. In return, their respective partners get more points. The naughtier, the more points they get. Mr. Green

If anything, it would alleviate the tedium of watching the cars not overtake and make watching F1 genuinely exciting...

Or, it would make the drivers drive harder just so we don't get to see their partner's norks. Si. <This is my name.

Following on from Stan's suggestion of speed bumps - anyone seen Death Race? Just loved the "tombstones" that suddenly popped up on the track Wink some of the other extras fitted were good too, a bit like MarioKart Smile

Also, penalties for straying of the track, either side, make 'em drive the circuit, not the kerbs and run offs

I would still like to see a race with Vettel Censored and Alonso Thumbs Up and Hamilton Sheep starting from the back, though Very Happy

I also agree somewhat that all the regs should be removed, let them build the fastest, most outrageous, high tech things they can, then race them. Advancements in tech would be huge Smile .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

one of the things that annoys me about a formula 1 car, is it cant go backwards, and cant be restarted if stalled. this seems not what the definition of a car should be. therefore, a race driver can have an incident not of his own fault, and stray into a spin, and save the car, only for it to srtall and render the car useless, and a danger.
being able to reverse the car away from an armco, or tyrewall, and continue seems more bang for your buck as a fan and paying track visitor sees his driver climb out and pull off his gloves and walk off, spoiling the afternoon. also, i think less people on the car in the pits, too many people messing about, in 3 seconds of sheer 'automation' compared to nascar, and their jacks and wheelnut guns, 5 nuts on each wheel! -nascar is boring, untill the pit stops!

Take it back to the days of James Hunt & Co - proper racing. Oh how I loved those cars.

Speaking of Turbo cars, I was at Castle Combe 2 weekends back where they had a Rally Day that had many of the 80's Group B cars including the Metro 6R4 (Tony Pond) and Stig Blomqvist with his Audi Quattro, plus a couple of Ford RS200's and Subaru Impreza WRC cars.
The Metro 6R4's were absolutely bonkers! Apparently they chopped 2 cylinders of the 3.5 Rover V8 to make it a 3.0 Litre V6, turned it around, strapped couple of turbos to it, stuck it in the back of a Metro and put the drive to the front and rear wheels!!

To watch Stig Blomqvist driving his original Audi Quattro round Castle Combe was amazing!!!

I wondered what his last name was.

And what he looked like without his helmet. A bit older than I imagined.
