Sat/nav questions

Hello I have tried google but i keep getting more confused, I have a 2006 range rover and i was interested in a mkiv upgrade, but when I looked at my computer it had a dvd rom(which I thought the mkiv had) when i ejected the disc it was a random burnt cd-r disk, so i guess my questions are how do i find out what version I have? how to i upgrade to the newest?(cheapest way possible) Im also confused by this because i was reading that with the mkiv I lose off road nag(which i don't really care about) but I have it as an option currently.

I am guessing here but I think you have a touch screen model , am I right ?
If so your system was made by Denso not VDO and you need one of their discs made by Navteq

The mk4 was or rather is a BMW upgrade for earlier Range Rovers with out the touch screen , It was never officially fitted. 2008 MY Supercharged

Hi -

I've an '06MY car with the DENSO system and I've just bought a 2011 disc for it. On UK cars the difference between this and the original disc is that on the later one you can't input addresses or postal codes whilst on the move. I presume there will be differences with your (US) disc anyway, but maybe this is an easy way to tell ?

Somebody will be along very shortly with more info no doubt !

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Tug, the disk will not turn on or off Nav on the move my friend... It should be off from factory and I guess yours will have been turned on sometime in the past and replacing the disc has made your rom reboot/update hence loosing the facility... Thumbs Up

Paul, if you have 'nav on the move' enabled then using the 2011 disc wont affect it, that's what i found with mine anyway...
also nav on move can be switched on with the iidtool apparently.. ... - .- -.

Ah ! - like I said to ryanr24 - somebody more knowledgeable would be along shortly - thanks fellas !

On my previous car, changing the disc to a later one lost "nav on the move". On this car, I changed the disc virtually as soon as I got the car and now I think about it, I'm not sure if it did it or not - probably not from what you say Craig ?

I guess for ryanr34, he needs to know if there are any tell tale signs to let him know which disc he has ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?
