maybe wire it up to a 12v bat for few seconds to see if it glows..

you can check the resistance with a multimeter - cant remember correct range but its very low - something like 0.4 - 0.9 ohms. |

As above, the easiest way is to connect it to a battery and see if it glows, should be almost instantaneous.

And either pulse it or take it off after 1 second or it may burn out. |
