engine system fault/ terrain function prob advice please.

battery/alternator all ok.
while driving today:
engine system fault+ terrain function unavailable messages came on.
the car started to slow down (was traveling at 70) and the throttle when pressed revved the engine but would not accelarate the car.
stopped at a lay by. and pressed the throttle ..felt as if in limp mode. revs went up but car hardly moved .
restarted the engine....and the car drives ok, but 10-15% down on acceleration and producing loads of black smoke on the slightest touch of the throttle.
and also the fuel consumption was huge. i could see the needle going down in 15 miles!

1) ERG?
2) pipe works?
3) lambda sensors?
plugged in my ebay OBD reader ( not the super special one Sad as on this forum ) and no codes are showing.

taking it to dealers tomorrow( they are good ) but always better to have a direction /diagnosis so can be prepared.

any suggestions please.
thanks 2011 4.4 TdV8 Nara Bronze

thanks for the reply..
turbo hoses...
are these the two hoses, sitting on top/front of the engine bay?
if so, just checked them, and look ok. 2011 4.4 TdV8 Nara Bronze

Yes and symptoms you describe are similar to one being split so worth checking Check to ensure clips are tight at both ends. To test you probably need daylight and someone to press accelerator as splits can be hard to spot Thumbs Up Present :2008 TDV8 HSE
