Fuel Inject. System error message

Hi folks.
Afraid i'm back again with another problem.
Just started getting 'Fuel Inject. System error message; on the dash.
Car drives fine and has since gone away after using the car and switching the ignition on and off.

Iv'e tried doing a search on here and google but found nothing.
So, should i be concerned. Is this a sign of impending doom.
Anyone else had it?

Thanks.

Have you had it on diagnostics to see if there is a fault code logged??

Could be a good place to start!

Not got around to it yet although that's the obvious thing to do.

I first need to find somewhere to get it done as the price for a diagnostic check can vary wildly.

Cheers.

Maybe your pumps are going, have they ever been changed. You can see on the forum several issues with the fuel pumps slowly going bad and failing. Maybe on yours the ECU detects low pressure build up and faults it. Best is to get a faultcode reading done to have a better idea. Good luck. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I had the same issue ("Fuel Injection System" message, limiting torque and engine cutting out at speed) and wanted to report the fix. The garage did an injector leak back test to check all injectors were firing as expected. Turns out that two of them were leaking so I had these replaced for £185 x 2 (exc VAT) and charged £120 for the labour to diagnose a fit. All went well for a couple of weeks and on a long run I put my foot down and the "Fuel Injection System" was thrown again.

Took the car back into the garage and they hooked it up again. Fault was much harder to find as it was intermittent. The guy was able to find it by putting his foot to the floor when on diagnostics and seeing the low pressure pump drop its pressure well below what it should be producing. So low pressure pump has been replaced now and a week in all seems to be good and acceleration is much more pokey. One thing to add, ahead of injectors being replaced my car was sluggish to start, especially in the cold. After they were replaced it started first time.

Hope this information helps.

Matt.

I've just been through all this mate. To start it was the low pressure pump then a week or two later the lift pump in the tank packed up!!!
If you do change any pumps it's worth changing your fuel filter too.
