Wood for log burners is now more expensive here than running your heating on oil ( . . . no gas) - as all the "lovies" have bought log burners Rolling Eyes

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

I bought 3 m3 at £62m3 for a mix of soft and hardwood in November. To be honest it was cheap and the wood wasnt brilliant. I local guy does all Oak and beech for about £90 1m3, very good size and quality and another does about £85 1m3 for hardwood but he has to deliver from further afield. Down our neck of the woods I would be surprised if anybody offered wood gratis and the good stuff tends to be gone before winter is finished.

All above is supposed to be seasoned.

Blooming heck its its own little business world isn't it!

TBH i didnt think it was being given away free but didn't realise how much some stuff was being sold for.

Though im guessing if they are fully curing it then they must have fields full of it somewhere unless they just have kilns for drying it out but that sounds well above what i like doing Smile

Well picked up the new saw and it's a cracker!

The chain has some kick back more than my old 16" but then it does seem a more pro unit and is another 20cc bigger so has more grunt. Needs the carb setting up to be perfect mind but started easy enough after a few pulls(no fuel primer).

I not got 2 chains so need to email them about that as I had to leave quick as many local roads were getting closed down that I needed to get home Sad

Got home and used it to break down a few logs to help keep some french panels in and will stick it in the car tomorrow so that after work I can go pick some blown down bits up near work and from the local clearing project the council have been doing while I'm around there Smile

Well worth it for £90! FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Awwww, don't remind me of that. I picked it up myself (loaded the trailer), and unloaded it myself. In fact it was two trailer loads that I picked up before work and unloaded in the evening. I have a 3500kg trailer but because the wood was green it was very heavy so it was two loads worth.

Then there was all this: -

Then there was all this wood on my trailer (not fire wood!) that had to be uploaded above my garage on the right, although I did have some help with that.

Seems most of last year I was handling hard wood!

Good exercise though, and satisfying to finish.
