i had a RRS mapped 30k miles not an issue
had 2 other TDv8's not an issue standard

have / had a sdv6 4k miles lunched turbo and engine , not mapped.

Seems that engine failures on this lot always relates to Turbo failure , which then causes engine failure, maybe the Turbo is the culprit not the engine, Look at what happened years ago when BMW had a mass of TD failures on the 320D Far to many gone...

I read this thread with a squeeky bumhole Big Cry

As a result...map removed - if I want a speedy getaway I'll buy another Caterham again.... Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

England 2006 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Bonatti Grey

Oh dear I want to buy a FF sometime this year and having heard the woes of the gearbox problems with Td6 models, I had convinced myself to spend a bit more and get a TdV8, now Im getting the jitters about that model with the turbo/engine issues. What to do ?………..

Thanks guys... You'll all be glad to know a replacement engine was not necessary in the end Thumbs Up

Turbo blown up (overspeeding) becoming more common, when one EGR fails and the car is driven for a while with intermittent misfire symptoms. EGR gets replaced and "voila" the turbo self destructs very soon after (due to the earlier "overspeed"), resulting in hydrolocking the engine with its own oil! At very low road speed this was fine and did not cause engine damage but i do here of many that bent con rods... Shocked

Guys, make sure you A, get EGR's changed quickly (as soon as they fault) and B, get them changed as a pair, when you do... Thumbs Up

Here's what they look like Robert.

V8's have two, my TD6 had only one before I removed it.

I wasn't suggesting they're the same Stan, apart from in principle.

They let a lot of dirty gunge into your engine.
