iPod. Again.

Having debated the subject again over in the ICE forum, what is the latest price on the connectivity kit? I am sure I can come up with a justification over some fm modulator... Whistle

Would you not consider the Parrot MKi9000?

Fabulous piece of kit that charges your iPod / iphone and plays music via cables so no loss over either FM or BlueTooth.

You don't need to use the Handsfree capability if you prefer the FF system.

I had a quote, £260 fitted including all parts and required wiring looms..... 2006 4.2 SC

Just a bump to see what the price might be - one on ebay is asking £487.50 ('special offer'!)

I go through this dilema about twice a month. I have looked at the Parrot and Alpine options a lot. My issue is that I am not a fan of extra brackets and gadget on display and so the parrot/alpine idea isn't one for me.

If there is a system that can be installed 'dicreetly' and used through the dash screen I am REALLY interested...

Is there enough for a group buy of some description....around £250 and I would go for it Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

The whole reason for going the Parrot MKi9000 route is there are no brackets, no screens, it's totally covert. Just this which can be hidden or put somewhere very discrete:-

Don't confuse this with the MKi9100 and MKi9200 which have mono and colour screen respectively.

What I love about the MKi9000 is a the iPod / iPhone connector that resides in the center arm rest. Brilliant! 2006 4.2 SC

Hiya,

It doesn't integrate with the existing system at all, although it's arguably a more reliable system!

So you install the Parrot and ignore the phone BT functionality but you just use the lead for direct connection to your stereo. This is what you end up with in the centre console or glovebox......iPod, iPhone, USB and jack which will also charge your iPod too.

Not sure the integration is an issue, assume you can choose the device to connect too...so use the existing system for phone and the ipod on the parrot - also my ipod is a classic, non-bluetooth?
So whats the required kit please ? Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Yes, you can just choose not to Bluetooth your mobile phone to your Parrot and continue to use the LR system. Although as said before, the Parrot is actually the superior system from a voice quality perspective you just lose the screen functionality. But yes - You have the choice which to use.

So the actual reason for installing the Parrot is not for phone connectivity but for music! Do not confuse the playing of music etc. with Bluetooth. You have a physical hard wired lead (as per the picture) which plugs directly into (and charges) your iPod / iPhone. My iPod is a classic too, Bluetooth doesn't come into the equation. Nor do you want it to be playing music over Bluetooth in your car (or at home on various systems available) as it reduces a lot of bandwith and therefore quality..... 2006 4.2 SC
