pretty sure it's the ecu on the steering column is knackered. comes as one complete unit |

The transponder chip is needed to in the key, have you had it recut.

In park and same result with both keys.

Not sure if this is relevant. There is a linkage cable that causes issues with key if not operatiing correctly.

Thanks guys, the key's not stuck in the ignition, more that you can put it in, but not turn it.

On my 2007 (ignition in dash) I sometimes have it lift the key fob slightly to get it to turn ...just another thought before spending any money GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

After some experimentation this morning I've discovered that if I time it right, between the whur-whuuuuur noise I can get the key to turn with a bit of pressure - about 50% of the time.

There are several linked ECU's that the key communicates with and every one has to return the correct response.
