If the message keeps coming up after disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery, then turning the steering wheel full lock from left to right then it looks like maybe the battery is on its way out. It does not take much of a drop in voltage performance for it to affect the basic diagnostic messages from the ECU.

AFAIK the 2006 MY SCs don't need the steering wheel trick anymore, anyway I never used it and my battery has been disconnected many times.

Have you had the fault codes read? Sounds like either a battery issue or a faulty height sensor... Fault codes will rule out the latter |

If you mean the remote for the fuel burning heater, yes it does need pairing - see this thread |

And just to clarify the fob will not start the engine for you but will start the fuel burning heater, this will preheat the cabin, but be careful as if your battery is not in tip top condition it will flatten your battery and you will not be able to start your engine. You only really need this function in cold weather. |
