What diff oil

I'm looking to change the diff oil in our 2006 SC.

In the handbook it lists two different types of diff oil, one is for the locking rear diff which I don't have. According to the book, both of mine should have SAF X0 oil.

When Googled most results seem to suggest that it's the same as Castrol Syntrax Longlife. The weight commonly referred to is 75w 90.

Has anybody changed their diff oil? If so, what oil did you use? If I can't be sure of getting the right stuff I'll go to the dealer and buy it I think.

Thanks!

I think all 4.2 SC have a locking rear diff standard, according to the sales brochure anyway

David,

Rear differential non-locking:
Texaco S5 75W90 API GL5 or Castrol Carbon 75W90;

Landrover TYK500010;

Comma SX 75W90 synthetic

The above is from the forum wiki entitled "Recommended Lubricants" (link below also shows spec for locking rear diff):

Thumbs Up

All UK spec supercharged had the locking rear diff I just think that pre terrain response models couldn't show the graphic on the 4X4 display so you aren't aware of when it locks/unlocks . 2008 MY Supercharged

Will PM Dan later on and get it sorted.

Craig, if you reckon it's worth doing the transfer box oil then I'll do that as well and will get it from Dan as well.

Cheers!
