Diesel refueling issue

Sorry if this has been covered before. If it has, I can't find the thread.

MY03 TD6. When refueling, the fuel gun will not fit into the fuel pipe at all, in short the pipework on the fuel gun is larger than the fuel pipe on the car. I can get the diesel in no problem but I have to hold it tight up against the pipe.

Is this normal or am I missing something here?

I have the same issue with my 2011 TDV8. There's lots of talk on here about a yellow flap that prevents you filling the tank with petrol by mistake but in my case it simply seems like the filler neck is too narrow I've only had the car a couple of weeks so have only filled it once so will have a closer look the next time I fill up.

On yours you have the safety system that stops you putting petrol in.
If you go to the tools under the floor in the boot you will find a Yellow tool. Insert it into the filler and you will be able to fill properly. 2 minute job. Thumbs Up

Im not sure they had this on your year.

Question Unless your (yellow) fuel filler protection flap has activated a normal car diesel pump will of course fit into the filler pipe Question

Nope not in mine. I don't believe I have the wrong fuel device fitted. I can't see anything yellow down there. Just seems like the filler neck is to narrow Rolling Eyes

Like sex, you just have to give it wiggle & ram it in, if you're too gentle it just doesn't go in!!

Laughing Thumbs Up nice one.

Just been having another look down the filler neck. The tube (if I may call it that) is flat on the top, like a closed U shape. is that how it should be ?
