Acceleration died - Throttle actuator shutdown

A short journey tonight, the front brake squeal started so I pumped the brakes a few times and went to accelerate and... Nowt there followed by a dash warning.

Thankfully, having taken heed of Cam Tech Craig's lead, my newly acquired IID tool actually lives in the glovebox of the car and so I was able to plugit in to have the following fault read:
"Throttle actuator control system forced engine shutdown [Fault Code P1205-00 (2Cool"

I then used then IID tool to clear that fault code and hey presto, normal service was resumed. Thank goodness for the IID tool because until using it, the car was going nowhere!

What's going on!!!

Don't know but sounds like a error between the accelerator and the throttle control in the engine. Possibly one to ignore until it happens again Rolling Eyes There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Did you catch the brake pedal at the same time as the throttle pedal?

If not, then as above. See if the fault re-occurs

According to the bible that is rave, the throttle position is recalibrate each each ignition cycle.

The code reads as p210500 - throttle MIL request due to fuel cut, action is to check for dtc indicating reason for fuel cut and follow action indicated for those dtc's. Rave p949.

As you had no other dtc codes then probably related to stamping on the brakes......... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

This happened again last night. Same as before, when I was braking, accelerating and braking in quick succession to try and stop the onset of front driver's side wheel squeal. Disconcerting when it happens but it does seem like a vehicle defence mechanism of sorts. Cleared the fault in seconds with the IID tool.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't fear much wrong with the car to make it shut down other than the give her a break conclusion... Or new pair of brakes [pads] Laughing

Just good to have the IID tool to restore normal service Thumbs Up

Couldn't agree more Pat. Can't believe I didn't get an IID tool sooner. Also a worthy reminder to carry it in the car which unless having read Cam Tech Craig's previous post about doing just that, I would have stored mine in my garage.

An essential bit of kit and for the record, my non BT IID is perfectly adequate for my needs and I don't long for a BT version, just like I don't long for a 5.0SC! Laughing

Spot on, the regular IIDTool still has its place even with the BT offering. It does feel at home in your glovebox, maybe I should add a note in the user manual!

Had the chance to drive a few different configurations and no matter which engine, the Range Rover is an astounding vehicle.
