Sitting here depressed looking out the window at a very wet and gloomy day thinking I really fancy a sunshine winter holiday but before I start playing with the keyboard and committing myself I thought I might ask you guys for some inspiration and suggestions....here are my parameters.
1) Needs to be sometime in January
2) Not Cyprus...have a place there and fancy something different.
3) Self catering/Villa would be great but not vital just don't like huge hotels
4) Quiet and relaxing with good local restaurants
5) £1500-£2000 max budget
6) Reasonably easy to get to from Scotland.

I chose the Dominican Republic but that's not in your budget unless you can get a last minute deal.

People knock Spain but there's some lovely places if you get away from Lager-Lout beach. Mostly villas too.

Ibiza is also great if you stay away from clubland.

Lanzarote would get my vote. Head towards Playa Blanca and you can't go wrong.

Is the South of Spain an option, maybe you can get another FFRR special there ???

Call me unimaginative but I'd opt for Dubai.

Cheap flights direct from Glasgow, great service onboard, don't have to pay for everything you need to enjoy the trip.

Pick the right hotel and you have none of the bling and in your face stuff that Dubai has gained a reputation for............

Skiiing. What is that about. Freezing bloody cold, stonkingly expensive crappy overcrowded accommodation, food. Slopes and bars littered with hot-choc-drinking up Brit and French tourists. Ski school teachers and guides that don't give a toss. Fling yourself down a mountain and hope you don't die.
