Kurt, considering to live high on a (very beautiful) snow topped Swiss mountain, that comment is open to interpretation. Mr. Green

I like watching Top Gear and understand its not serious, but as you get older you realise it's all staged, and that ruins it for me.

There's no way they make any of the alterations or fixes themselves, Clarkson can only use a hammer but somehow rewires his Porsche's loom? I doubt it.

They got dumped on a rocky beach off the ferry, so, did all the camper vans and crew cars do the same? Doubt it. So why do the beach bit? Pointless.

Did you notice that after they went shopping for Stadium bits they all got a set of brand new Winter tyres/AT tyres? They never mentioned that.

When you look at all the camera angles you realise how its all staged, its not accidental.

Why wire up a brake light on Clarksons dash? Made no sense and it was boring as tricks go.

James May supposedly breaks three ribs but can drive a manual sports car over rough ground, hold up items, and in the hotel doesn't look in pain.

It's Hammond I can't stand. Also, why does every programme he appears in, have his name in the title?

To be honest though, I quite enjoyed watching it. Completely fake, but at least better than most of the rubbish on over xmas

Of course its fake (assisted) do you really expect three blokes in knackered cars to cross Bolivia, Botswana or the Andes?

They are however there driving the cars and the experiences, fake or not, can be dam funny and simply make me laugh. Pure relaxation telly for me.

For what its worth I like watching all of them. Whistle

I would watch just the scenery. Gets my Vote for best TV over Xmas every year (Not always Xmas though) Laughing

It's a bit of fun, yes it's staged but still entertaining if you take it for what it is.

Don't get me wrong, I like Top Gear, think I've seen just about everyone they have made from the days when it was presented by William Woollard, with Chris Goffey, Tony Mason, and Tiff Needell. It has gone from a consumer program to an entertaining series based around cars, and it works, very well most of the time.
Some of the staged stunts have been a little too far fetched to believe, and some have been very predictable. Like why do they always cook chips in a caravan? The first time it happened, hysterical, but when they repeated it on build a train, sort of lost the impact of the first stunt and the outcome was predicted long before the fire.
My only real gripe is, why, when the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands has been disputed recently, did the BBC think it would be OK to go to the area that has suffered the biggest loss of life at our hands, and have a football match? Talk about rubbing salt in to an open wound, predictable outcome, and now a diplomatic row. Way to go BBC Thumbs Up The only thing that they could have done to make it even worse, would have been to use Ex Military vehicles, thankfully they didn't. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer...
