Probably till the summer had it 15 months and done in excess of 27k miles but like Stan the upgrade cost to a 2010/11 is a tad lumpy for the return Very Happy

My precise dilemna right now. Looking at a 5 Series GT, either the 335 or 550 petrols. Extended test drive confirms it isn't exactly a mobile stately home like the FFRR is. Bentley GT probably is but also probably has the same reliability and cost issues in which case we're back to another Rangie.

So this one, until the warranty runs out, and then we'll see. May extend warranty for another year or perhaps trade in.

Having bought mine in November 2014 I recon i will be keeping mine for a good while (2-3 years) . The longest i have ever kept a car is just over a year but i feel very content with the RR. However it has crossed my mind what i would replace it with don't see me ever buying either of the tdv8 as i just couldn't justify the extra cost for the diesel for the type of millage i do and the 4.2 SC just doesn't have enough to offer to merit the change over . I think the most likely candidate to replace mine would be the 5.0 SC Mr. Green Looking at some of the stats on them 0-60etc its hard to believe that a car that size would be quicker than a remapped golf GTI i had a few years back, things must be incredible to drive ! Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE )

Had the fatty a couple of years now and all being well, will be keeping it for a few more. Touch wood and I hate saying this, but apart from a sensor on the suspension and brakes renewed, as well as servicing obviously, all has been good, love everything about the car. So when the time comes would defiantly get another, but when that will be Ive no idea. 2004 vogue

I was only meant to keep mine for 12 months and get it out of my system. 2 years in and as has been said before I'm struggling to see what I'd go to next.

Everything I sit in, be it a 5 series or an A6 at the same price point and I see all the same equipment I already have with less poise and presence so why change?

The other halfs A5 coupe is like a go Kart in comparison, but then I've got so used to arriving at places rather than racing to them that having a fast and fun car for a daily commute of 15 miles ew seems a waste.

ah well, keep going till it can't or I can afford the 5.0sc Currently - 55 FFRR S/C and loving it

Had mine for 7yrs and now at 105k miles (got it with 11k on clock). Still look forward to driving it every time which is why I have kept it so long. The only major cost was the gearbox rebuild, else just discs pads and tyres along with fixed price services (£202 at moment) and free MOTs thrown in. However, I will want to move to the L405 at some stage simply because the L322 will suddenly become the 'old model' and start to look dated compared to the L405, a bit like the P38 did when the L322 appeared. Although, I have considered the L322 Westminster which is great value compared to the new model , but at some stage the number of L405s produced will then have a knock on and the 2nd hand market values will start to drop to more 'realistic' prices. Love my L322 though, best car I've ever bought. Steve

Interesting point there regarding "looking dated". I do see that the L405 is a departure from the L322 and the Classic and even the P38 but I still think the L322 is the best looking of them all. I hope that I will be able to get the whole range at some point (whereever we end up setting up home base).

My 5.0 L322 is hopefully the starting point of the collection Smile. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Yes, I really like the look of the L322 , with its harder lines it looks like it can do the job it was intended for but with the added luxury that the other 4x4s lack. It will just be in say2-3yrs time the L322 will become the 'classic RR' when the L405 has had a few more facelifts. Bit like the Supra 2.8i (Wide body) I owned in the 80's , looked great with its digital dash and shape etc, then the new 3.0L came out with a very striking (at the time) body and mine instantly looked 'old hat' and dated (sold it within a year and got the new shape). Steve

Mmmmm I really wonder if the L322 will ever look really dated in a way that you'd want to go for a L405. I see it in the P38, that does have that dated look, at least to me but the L322 is such a brilliant design IMHO that I think the L405 will look dated before the L322 does if at all.

To me the L322 is very much like the Classic as in, yes it is an older design (because it has been around for decades) but they also have a timeless look to them. But maybe I'm still very biased because I like the L322 so much.

For me the reason to switch to a L405 would be that the car drives better according to almost every single person I have heard about it on here. So if the "fans" agree the L405 is quite a bit better than I will probably also have the experience. As far as looks go, the L405 still does not do it for me like the L322. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

I suppose I'm at a point now where I have clocked up the miles and , touch wood, the car has only had the 1 major issue (gearbox) and nothing else of worth , so if I stick with it for a few more years, I'm more likely to start hitting problems simply because it is 10-11yrs old and things start to wear out, so logically, I should choose an L405 over a late L322 , but it is the psychological barrier of handing over a large amount of money for a 2nd hand L405 . I got my L322 at 14months old and saved £25k on the new price , pity the L405 hasn't gone that way Sad Steve

I am surprised at how many people keep vehicles for such short periods of time. Of course I have owned my daily driver for almost fifteen years now.

hcire, I would probably be more like you if I stayed in on country or had a "homebase" but as an expat without a homebase it is very hard to keep cars for very long. I hope that my 5.0 is the exception to that rule.

RRVSE, I hear where you are coming from and I agree that it makes sense to go for a newer L405 if the time comes to replace the TD6. However, I would suggest to wait for a later second hand as this first batch seems to still have a bunch of issues typical for most new models in the first year or two after coming out. I think that reliability wise a late 2010 to 2012 L322 will be a better choice than a L405 2013-2014 or even 2015, although I may be wrong as it is only based on what I see on this forum and even that may be biased a bit (on my side).

Although I have warmed up to the L405, I still prefer the L322 a lot more and I think that is clouding my judgement Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
