To be fair, it does work, just has a habit of turning itself off occasionally! Not the sort of thing one can test.

Still, the part isn't too expensive and this will be my third time!

Dang! my replacement FSBR has gone the way of the last one, symptoms started with intermittent blowers for several weeks, then yesterday just nothing. One on order via eBay.

Wonder if the current colder weather has had anything to do with it? .

The one that failed after about 6 months in mine was an eBay one rather than genuine LR one. The Genuine ones have been revised, they now have more cooling fins.

I got my genuine one from Harwoods, Edenbridge. When I gave the parts guy the part number he immediately said ah yes the FSR before even typing it into the computer! They obviously replace a few of them if he knows the number off by heart! 

When I asked for my FSR at the LR parts dept I was told they get lots of calls from BMW owners for the FSR as it is cheaper then the BMW part

Well, new FSR fitted in, and blowers back in operation. It's a very satisfying fix

Second time around seemed much easier to do

One note, as I went to remove the old one, it seemed loose in it's housing. Now I am damn sure it when in with a resounding click when I fitted it, and was nice and tight, as with the one I just put in, but it was loose when i went to take it out. This may be the reason for failure, as it has to seal into the housing to ensure it doesn't overheat and fail. I'll have to keep an eye on this and check it in a couple of months. .

Just been out and fixed it a bit awkward. All the instructions on here made it so simple. My Motto: If you are going to have one, have a BIG one!

I just got my tdv8 vogue last week with no steps.
I bought chrome bars with front and rear steps in them.
£172 delivered from ebay, they are nice with an easy fit.
it sets the car off with the 22" alloys, chrome mirrors and chrome side vents.
