L322 4.4 keeps coming up reduced engine performance

2006 L322 4.4 petrol keeps displaying reduced engine performance on dash briefly then goes off. No performance loss. Engine management light also sometimes does the same. When checking on diagnostics shows mass air flow sensor. Has been changed but no joy. Vehicle can stall when steering whilst going slow and braking. Electrical or something else. Help please. Car runs great but this is driving me mental. Cheers Budha Yawn

Mmm . . . interesting.
I had exactly the same symptoms on my (now sold) 2006 4.4.
Also diagnosed as MAF sensor - all good after changing it.
Maybe your new MAF sensor is faulty ?

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Try reconnecting/pushing all the way in the various cables and plugs. I had a similar problem and if the MAF plug is not fully in error may appear.

Did you go for a genuine MAF or an after market one when changing it? Having had awful experiences with cheap aftermarket MAF's on a few different makes of car over the years I will now only fit genuine when changing them Smile

Make sure it's a Bosch (should say in the actual MAF). I paid about £120 fitted.

You have the BMW engine?
Check oil build up in the spark plug recesses, cam cover leakage.

Sounds obvious but check all the electrical cable connections (Battery, MAF Sensor etc.) Sometimes a partial fit can lead to intermittent disconnection and loss of power.
