Today finally got into working on the center LED's.
I used Nicedayforit's (few posts back) instructions on a four pin relay.

After installing the center LED's came on (flickering) and there was a notable fast ticking sound coming from the relay itself. I'm sure I installed the Relay the correct way, checked twice.

Is this just a case of a broken/failing relay or could this be something else?

Tried that... But the LED isn't very bright then plus it flickers...

they are connected straight onto the fog feed wires, no flickering as i have turned off hot and cold monitoring with the iidtool....very bright as well..

i cant understand why yours are not bright... ... - .- -.

Well they are bright when I use them with the relais, only then there is the flickering and ticking sound.
Without relay they are much dimmer and flicker as well..

Difference is I haven't switched off H&C monitoring, but with Nicedayforit's solution I should be able to isolate the fog light from H&C monitoring... 2002 L322 V8

Disconnect the wire on terminal 30 of the relay and leave the relay connected to the original foglight connections. Does the relay still chatter when the foglights switch is on ?
Does a Bulb Fault message display in the car with the ignition on?

No I think the problem is the hot and cold monitoring is operating continuously as the resistance of the coil in the relay is too low for the monitoring system to measure.
I did mention in my original post that you may need resistors incorporated in the circuit to avoid problems, seems you do.
The resistors are of the type that are used when fitting led bulbs in place of the more normal tungsten bulbs.
I have no experience in the use of these resistors as I have always managed to avoid using them.
I will have to look into this and come back to you.

To resolve the flickering problem I think you need to fit resistors across the wires connected to terminals 85 and 86 of your relays. The type of resistor is shown below.
I would be inclined to lengthen the two wires connected to each resistor so that you can position each resistor on a metal surface and well away from any plastic surfaces, the resistors got very hot in use.
One wire from each resistor should be connected to terminal 85 of your relay with the other wire being connected to terminal 86. Or you can connect the resistor wires to the wires going to terminals 85 and 86 if convenient.
This should resolve your problem and is still a lot cheaper than a IID tool.

Finally I will also het rid of the "check front foglight" bong every time I start the car... I was almost getting used to it..
