I think I'll be fine on that front as no gun here and obviously after two burglaries already if I investigated an alarm that had been triggered and then feared they were a danger to a newborn child I don't think any of us would hesitate in making sure they didn't get near their nipper 👍

Dogs are out of the question due to space and costs of them 😥 FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Tony Martins biggest downfall was the fact the shotgun he used to shoot the pikeys with was an illegally held firearm, IIRC he claimed someone left it for him on his truck seat with a note saying "you may need this someday"

A genuine shooting from a home-owner against a burglar would be nearly imposable to prosecute under certain circumstances - say for example (and just off the top of my head) the home-owner were to pre-purchase a "realistic imitation firearm" (BB gun) when next visiting somewhere miles away from home and with cash so no paper trail /linkable CCTV footage then simply keeps it hidden away without ever showing anyone. In the unlikely event said home-owner shoots an intruder he simply plants the RIF somewhere about the person of the intruder before the cops arrive and claim self defence.

Hell, in an emergency even one of your own kitchen knives would suffice, and would be hard to prove he didn't pick it up whilst wandering around your home.

I remember years ago some company in Birmingham were trying to get a product to market that was effectively a landmine that fired a huge amount of fluorescent paint into the air when activated, stayed on the victim for days and when stood under a black light made them look like an oversized oompa-loompa, think it evolved into using smart water with microscopic metal discs in the paint that had codes on to identify where it came from, the demo I saw was someone breaking into a car to steal the stereo then a fine mist appears when he pokes his head through the window.

Have you thought about one of these? http://www.klaxonsignals.com/industrial&am...Category=1
They really make you want to exit the building, quick Shocked I have had the misfortune to sample one of these, due to a dodgy alarm system at the place I used to work, maybe not quite the instant poo effect of the blank firing thingy, but, it goes on and on and on Sad Can make you feel quite peculiar, and is a really good incentive to quite the gaff Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Can't imagine they cost under £50 and are easy to setup to disable when an authorised person wants to go into the area... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Tempting fate here i know but we have had a raft of farm burglaries in the last month, quads, trailers etc up to the next farm. I have CCTV (useless apart from during the day). I know you dont want dogs. borrow one for a month, I see them all the time slowing down and sussing out the property and the dogs definitely put them off Thumbs Up

Tony Martins biggest downfall was shooting them in the back as they ran away... any US cop will tell you, you shout first to make them turn around, then shoot them in the front.....!! Pete

Or I believe that it's preferential to load your shotgun with rock salt Whistle all the shot dissolves, leaving a clean wound, and nothing to trace Wink Plus it adds to the pain of being shot Shocked

So I am pleased we have not lost the core values of what it means to drive a FFRR

- bodies in the boot, disused quarries, correct methods for shooting someone, anti-personnel mines Rolling with laughter

A bit more classy than truck drivers, laybys and prostitutes.

And our collective knowledge on any subject always impresses me on this forum. There is nothing we can't do when we put our collective thought process together Howard

^^Whistle I beg to differ with you there Bud, there's nothing we can't do, EXCEPT, make a reliable Range Rover Rolling with laughter

You could be in a world of hurt saying things like that with an Arctic blast waiting to pounce Wink , you know that your ffrr likes to prove you wrong Exclamation Maybe we should all speculate on the faults that we will get..... just to be proved wrong Shocked

You can turn them off Shocked and they will work more than once...... wots to stop the scrotes coming back half an hour later, after they've had a change of underwear? ^^ you forgot the double wire fence, guards with guard dogs and the machine gun towers Laughing

A half decent alarm with PIR detectors and the Klaxon sounder, and you'll have a system that will deter most scrotes from hanging around to see the finale. Plus it will work more than once, re arm it's self, and if your really worried then you could add phone dialer to do the 999 bit automatically Thumbs Up No risk of fire, injury, law suits or being on the wrong side of the law.

You don't even have to shoot someone to get in to trouble, if they are in fear of their life then you is in the brown stuff Shocked Although a good lawyer should be able to argue that your protecting your property, but it only takes something like the judge was the kid you all bullied at school and your back in it Shocked Is it really worth testing your luck? Surely owning a ffrr is pushing it far enough Wink

If you really have to shoot someone, get a paintball gun and keep the ammo in the freezer, non lethal, hurts like hell, and makes it easy to pick them out, as they are covered in paint Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Generally, the process of being disturbed is what makes burglars leave the scene, they generally don't want the hassle of dealing with someone. Large sounds drawing attention is the name of the game. If challenged, most will turn and walk and make a comment of "was looking for a friend" type crap.

Failing that, if they want it they'll get it, so filming it is the thing to rely after that.

CCTV - very good, but needs to be well placed. The better footage often tends to be camera pointing to catch persons leaving a building, not entering. I remember once seeing footage from a camera placed about head height at the side of the exit looking into the shop. It caught the face of persons leaving very very well as people tend not to think about the hiding from cameras when leaving as they just want out. V8 or else ...
