Ireland 2015 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Corris Grey

Looking to buy today and would appreciate some tech advice. I'm not bothered by the legality as the car is only used on private roads , so having said that , what's the brightest / whitest H7 option I can get for a 2007 L322 , be it LED , PIAA , etc. don't really want to spend more that 80-90 quid 2015 4.4 AB

the brightest will be the 100 watt type [loads on ebay]....but, beware that they might melt the lens and the wiring might get warm.. ... - .- -.

Certainly, I should think. LEDs are great when designed from scratch, but (normally) save for the quality and colour temperature of light. 6000K offers the greatest efficacy, but it's the worst choice for vision. LEDs at a lower colour temperature are available, as are ones offering a CRI of 90+, but there's a significant performance trade off. Claims that high colour temperature lights give better vision are entirely the opposite of the truth, and now blue-ish/ "whiter" headlights are today's fashion so manufacturers can easily play on that but really, we need to look at going in the opposite direction and sacrificing a bit of efficiency for better quality light. Thumbs Up

The other issue with the way headlights are going is the shocking reduction in light output in order to help meet emissions regulations - Xenon equipped cars like the L322 and D3 have theoretical lumen outputs of 9400lm (6000lm for halogen) thanks to the additional halogen beams, but now, the xenon L405 has to make do with a meagre 6400lm and a new halogen Disco only 3750lm Shocked all in the name of efficiency. i agree that technically the 4300k temp bulbs give better light but visually that the 6000k ones are preferred.. ... - .- -.

Oh, yes. I understand why it's popular, sort of anyway, but ideally they'd be 3500 or 3000K even. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

There's an interesting principle when it comes to the "daylight" look. Basically, what we perceive as white during daylight, becomes bluer as luminance reduces: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kruithof_curve It stems from the way our eyes adjust to lighting levels not only by contracting and dilating the pupil but also by supplementing the colour-receptive cones with the more blue-sensitive rods. you wont get any better projected light other than from a halogen bulb.... the hid kits will give you whiter light but because the headlight main doesnt have the correct housing it will not give you maximum forward beam... ... - .- -.

No doubt in the not to distant future these bulbs will be available in all hues like the hid kits ended up offering. I have previously opted for hids at 5000k when given a choice and think that was a good compromise, fashion and function.
One minor plus for the Led`s over Hids is the instant on, this gives a flash function when needed, missing from hids 2007 TDV8 VSE

Yep, each technology has its merits so it's down to which is most suitable for any particular job. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
