The Body Control Module or BC Unit controlls all aspects of the cars security and windows etc. The RF Reciever is in the boot and then sends the signal to that. There is a lot of info on the workshop manual on the subject, but here is the summary for the RF Reciever:

RF Receiver
The RF receiver converts the signals from the RF remote handset into digital messages and transmits them to the BCU. The RF receiver is integrated into the rear window antenna amplifier installed behind the inner trim on the top left edge of the upper tail door. Operation of the receiver is powered by a permanent battery feed from the rear fusebox.

Thank you Dan Bow down
I asked that because I had project to change my horrible key to another one. I'll move the transponder from the LR key into the new keyfob. But with your answer, I'm not sure I would be able to connect the new module... Confused
The button of my old key are in very bad condition... and I realy don't want to pay about 270 euros for a new one...

Agreed, you should be able to swap the entire insides of your key for any replacement. Or just pay the £75 for one from a stealer.

XUO000020 or XUO500040

Hi All,
Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd follow this one as it is related.
My Remote locking is intermittent at best.
I've tried swapping the battery in the key and re-syncing but it struggles to sync/work and I don't think it is the key as the little red LED on the key flashes fine.
I only have the one key (for now) so I think it is the receiver.

I have uploaded a couple of photo's to show the item and where it is located on a 2004 L322.
All you have to do is pull the top plastic panel off, it is held with plastic clips that stick into metal clips. You need to pull the panel off squarely (not at an angel).

My question is - I've noticed there seems to be an updated part number of XUO500040 in place of the XUO000020 item which is fitted to my car. Am I best fitting the new part? Has anyone else tried this swap for the new part? Are the connectors the same? Am I even correct in thinking it is a newer part number?

Any experience of swapping one of these greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Richard

Hi Folks.
Just to follow up, bought a new receiver off ebay, fitted it and sync'd the key straight away. It works a treat now. I took the old unit apart and found this. It looked fine from the outside too.

I probably have the same problem. Did you opt for "updated" part number or figure out if there is a difference?

I think I just bought like for like as that was the cheapest one on Ebay at the time. It worked perfectly and I have never had a problem since.
