Are but you've got a much newer one than my BMW tractor! My pals P38 shoots up quickly too, think that mines just lazy, like the performance  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Even with everything working spot on the earlier ones take much longer than the later ones to raise and lower....

I've just got another compressor for mine and am going to set it up to run both to speed it up a bit whilst offroading and needing a quicker response from the system... Pete

I have a 2003 RR 4.4v8 and it takes ~ 10 seconds or less on any adjustment, assuming I am rolling forward of course ~ 5mph.

I know the previous owner had the compressor replaced 6 months or so ago.

As with anything else the more you use it the quicker it wears out.....

or ... the less it is used, the more likely it is to have a problem when it is

I guess its just another personal preference

I use the button on the drivers door and do it as I am going into a parking space. I do it every time I use the car. My wife never does and probably slides off the seat and out the car Alex

Mine is always lowered to Access height when I get out, otherwise I can't get back in very easily, being a shortie and not having side steps.

Have to lower mine to the bump stops (via IID) to get my mum in! Previous cars:

Pete , your twin turbo lift pump idea, how far have you got? I'm interested, because a lot of the time when I'm hitching up to trailers, some nincumepoop has left the front of the unit too high when shunting it about with a forklift, end result jockey wheel wont go low enough So I have to mess about dropping legs and lifting wheels and picking up legs and so on or I go for the high hitch option with the suspension control and are we there yet?
When my buddy does it with his P38, it just jumps in to the hitch, like a magnet I'm soooo envious.
Question, which system runs at the higher pressure, can't remember, but I get the feeling that it's the old one. If so does the newer system use a different valve block with bigger holes, or have a bigger air tank. Got a feeling that the P38 has a bigger air tank, it can't be the pump cos it looks a quite a bit smaller than the one in my boot.
I used the up / down the other day to shunt 4 trailers at our yard, and by trailer 3 I'd run out of air , for a horrible moment thought I'd done another pump in, but got back to normal slow service after a few minutes  Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Interesting thread, but my question is , will you accelerate the wear on the bellows?
Ok, the pump may wear a bit quicker, but the rubbers, can they handle the up and down daily?

Handle it no problem at all, they spend all their time going up and down a bit when you drive... when they fail they split, they don't wear through so it is a failing in the material, not wearing them out....

I suppose there is an argument that going up and down more will cause the material to fail quicker but I shouldn't think it makes much difference, just do what you want.... all this micro analysing doesn't really help anyone....  Pete

I always drop the suspension overnight using the drivers window switch panel. Usually works fine although it did lead to an air spring failing one morning!
