[SOLD] Second battery system for L322

Selling my second battery system that was built for our Iceland trip. The car is now gone and the system is surplus to my requirements.
Replaces the right side panel in the trunk and is basically plug&play. Does not include battery.
Basic layout is CAR<->CHARGE RELAY<->2nd BATTERY<->LOADS. Both car and loads can be isolated independently from the system through two heavy duty isolation switches. Charge relay will ensure that any loads can not run the main battery empty. All loads, ie. 12V socket, USB sockets, inverter feed, have their own fuses as well. The whole system has 80A fuse towards the car to prevent issues, since the cable between trunk and main battery is officially rated at 100A.
Panel also has it's own voltage display and depending on two way switch position, will display either car or second battery voltage. All cables are heavy duty silicon cable and are sufficiently large to handle rated loads. No exposed pins or other voltage sources as everything is behind the panel face. Also all the switches have been installed so that they are sufficiently deep inside the panel preventing square items hitting them inside the trunk. Lower panel also has space for inverter with feed cables in place.

Where would the second battery be situated and what maximum or minimum rating would the battery have, please?

Hi,
There is perfect space for second battery underneath the panel. It is usually occupied by storage bin which is replaced with second battery. See: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic5721.html
I had a 60Ah Varta battery in the space, but it can accomodate batteries up to 90/100Ah.

I got a Varta Silver 110AH (main battery) in the cubby, needed to saw off the plastic surrounds (on the battery) and cut out a screw thread that was sticking up. Tight fit but it goes in. .

Just to point out if you've got the removal tow bar stored under there the battery won't fit under that panel. Smile

I'm tempted by this for no other reason then it'd let me watch the TV or a DVD in the FF whilst the other half goes shopping without worrying about the battery Laughing

where did you terminate -ve and what wwe'rethe bare ended cables connected toon the bottom left in the 2nd pic?

Hello nbunney,
there are several places where you can terminate the ground cable inside the trunk. I used 7mm bolt in the lower part of d-pillar. Bare ended cables were for 300W inverter I had installed there. These cables can simply be removed or fuse taken out if no inverter is installed.
