My 322 is here to do a job which after 9 years it still does admirably, yes it looks like a skip but it is a workhorse, when it dies I will have to replace with whatever is best value, cant see it being a 405 but as long as it is an FFRR I am not really that bothered Rolling with laughter

Hi Folks,

Just spent 7 days in the UK, lots of driving and was staggered by the number of RRS and RR about. In the Dales region of Yorkshire, there is a LR branded product in every drive.....virtually.

Anyway, I was surprised how old the L322 looked compared to anything else around. Quite shocked. I thought the older style RRS holds up quite well against its replacement.

Just a note: My hire car was a Fiat 500....Totally dreadful and talk about road noise.

Just an observation.

Cheers, Jerry

Jerry, driving a Fiat 500 - your opinion doesn't really count - perhaps you should buzz of back home to your 30 year old Holden Wink couldn't you afford to splash out on a decent hire car for your holiday Cool 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

L322 shape is great but it does feel a bit dated, especially the first generation cars. I do not like how really small changes have been made between 2002-2005 and 2006-2009 cars, I often feel my 2007 front with stock grille is almost impossible to distinguish from the pre fl car. I also hate the sidelights, looking like somebody put a candle in there. A 2010 facelift is a huge upgrade, I love the lights. Too bad they are so expensive to facelift but I hope to get there soon.

One observation though. L322 for me is the closest RR to the original Classic, maybe this is what makes it a bit more special. Look at the shape of taillights, shape of rear pillars, or plain profile look. P38 was very different in these aspects, L405 is not really close either.

Oh and I have to say I really love the dash of the L322. Wow they did a good job. Such a pleasure to look at. 07 3.6 TDV8 Vogue

I'd disagree with dated. No, an L322 doesn't look swoopy/modern, but it's not old fashioned. I think it's aging very well.

As for the small exterior changes made to the L322s over the years, it's great to see how well they did the first time round. The TD6 gearbox may have issues, but in the looks department, the 2002 every bit as nice as the last 2012s. (Interior and performance, now that's different.)

Jerry, you own a 2007 L322; have you never looked at it when approaching to get in to drive? Do you keep your eyes closed when washing it?

Says a lot about Uganda if it takes coming to the UK to form that particular opinion.....I take it the L322 looks positively futuristic over there?

I have to agree that they are starting to show their age compared to more modern machinery but that doesn't mean they are not still wonderful.

Quality is more important than age. Take Joanna Lumley for instance. She is 70 and starting to show a few signs of ageing but it doesn't stop her being gorgeous. (I know that is an irrelevant comment on this forum but I just happen to love her!!!)

The first time I saw an L322 and an L405 together was on the BBC television news when Princess Charlotte was born. Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge drove away from the hospital in an L405 closely followed by their protection detail in an L332 and I was struck by how much more presence the L322 had, making the L405 look rather insignificant.

Well, I've got a bit of a boil on here! I drive my beloved, aged L322 & hope I'll never have to drive anything else. Yes its getting a bit long in the tooth, but who cares, just look at it! Awesomeness personified. As for Fiat 500's I've never driven one but I have been in one many times, as my Mrs has one. Its a 1.3td she does about 400km a week in it & loves it. So the way I see it the op has insulted both my ultimate drive & my Mrs's ultimate drive, so yes - Censored Off back to wherever it is you come from.

Oh & as for the Dales, you don't see a Land Rover in every drive because they don't pretty much have drives, they're either cottages in villages or posh pads where you can see f*ck all.

Oh dear oh dear. Rolling with laughter Grow up come to mind.

I have a house in the Dales. It has a driveway. As does my Dads, Mums, and everyone else in the village in their "cottages".

Back on track, its an observation that struck me when there. I drive an L322 and like it. But reality is, they age! And with it look old.

Cheers, Jerry THIS WRECKAGE

Had my rangie in the front of a posh hotel the other day (just picking up the missus and dolphinbaby!) and as I struggled out with pram and assorted baby parafinalia, a group of some 5 youngsters, c. 25-30, came out behind me and I heard one of them say "wow, great looking car. That's my favourite shape of them all. Really suits here".
