Nice Nino! Needs a roof boot as well? And excellent secondary crash protection. Even for the carpark.!

So how much space is inside?

Rather than go out to the car and prise the cover off I lazily went on the internet:

I left the blue guidelines on and this view shows front and back. Interestingly it looks like there are speaker points n the corners.

So I think there are two shallow pockets to be had on each end. I'll take some measurements later.

I think some nice tools in foam inserts would be lovely! And this does not need depth.

It looks to me like there is already a shallow area almost full width to gain, without any cutting. Too many toys, not enough time

tailgate is constructed of three sheet metal pieces with space between them. side cavities are too small for any tools.

so as you can see not much room there, better stick with plastic box.

great mock up! Actually Nino your picture shows the locks and connector protrude in a bit.

But yes I was always planning to cut, see red lines in my earlier picture.

Maybe I'll place the tools vertically. I'm sure I can make it work. Who doesn't want more cubby space, even for a few packs of Marlboros hey Nino!

Or you could take approach I do on my bike - 1/4 drive socket set with sockets all on a bar, and all wrapped up in a pair of old socks
The socks stop it rattling,and act as rag when you need it Too many toys, not enough time
