FBH - Only running for a few minutes.

Been puzzled by this one for a few weeks. But then with my recent flat battery it dawned on me that the FBH ECU turns the FBH off if the voltage drops to 11.4v.

I hooked up the multimeter and started the FBH, sure enough after about 5-10 minutes the voltage dropped to 11.4V and the FBH shut down.

I need a new battery Sad

Did you check that your alternator is charging correctly when running? I think its supposed to be around 14.2V.

Yup, alt' charges fine. The battery voltage drops off quickly though which is generally down to damaged plates.

It turns out that my battery is only 7 months old - however Guava of Guildford fitted an 80Ah battery from a Freelander rather than the proper 110Ah battery.

No wonder the poor thing has been struggling to start in the cold mornings.

I will be expecting them to replace it with the correct battery!

Well, at least its a easy fix and less expensive VS repairing/changing the alternator Very Happy

I had a new battery installed this january, even with a new battery, when it -30c it still has a tough time cranking. I would still like to get my hands on a similar FBH like yours.

All parts are available to buy direct from LR, or you can buy the kit brand new for around £500.
