Jim
Your strategy is exactly why I am driving a 2011 Vogue SE with full history and I've had a few bits done to it by my indy who knows his beans. I avoid main dealers

United Kingdom 2015 Range Rover Autobiography TDV6 Fuji White

I'm considering doing exactly the same thing early next year.

I'm thinking of going to a late model 322 and had in mind either a Westie or an AB. Brief searches recently have suggested I could find a 12/62 model with a really good spec, with less than 30K on the clock for under £30K.

The mileage is important, as I would plan on keeping this car for a while and as previously mentioned, the later 322's should have been pretty well sorted.

Westie or SE?

Depends on desirable extras fitted.

A Westie with retractable steps, all round cameras, blind spot warning, rear entertainment, removable tow bar etc would beat SE hands down but only if you wanted them.

Basic AB gets leather roof and door trims - that's about it! (but could have a lovely 5 litre supercharged engine) Forty years of progress. 1972-2012

Arbuckle - I'm curious to know in what way it would beat an SE hands down? Assuming they're equally specced, what would be the difference? 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

Westminsters came 'pre-packaged' - as a runout model they could not be optioned further as far as I understand.

Westminsters, although well spec'd don't have the Vision Pack as far as I know. That's the surround cameras, blind spot monitoring, auto headlight (high beam assist), auto dimming rear view mirrors and tow assist.

However you can find an SE spec'd even higher than SE if you see what I mean.
Eg you can find an SE with electric rear seats but you won't find those on a Westminster. The SE front seats are nicer too.

Westminsters do benefit from a new model name which means their values tend to be a bit higher, aside of year factor. Eg An early 2012 SE would tend to be valued less than a 2012 Westminster.

To add to specification confusion, a 2011 SE has different spec to a 2012 SE. (Westminsters replaced the SE entirely at some point in 2012)

.

. Cheers, Greg

Hi All for replies.
ABs were almost twice the price when I was searching for a used Westie so decided I could do without the extras.
I was unaware of limited options available when ordering new as mine has the Vision pack, Deployable side steps, Rear entertainment plus other things I still keep finding. I assumed all Westminsters came with this spec.
Clearly I am wrong and appreciate the re-education. Embarassed

Can't see surround cameras, adaptive cruise, rear entertainment or retractable steps on this.

Maybe some Westminsters got steps fitted at dealers?

Thanks for the Features Listing.
Pretty sure no adaptive control on my Westie but cameras on front, side and rear etc. Thumbs Up
I don't remember seeing any towing aids when reversing but caravan now packed away for winter Big Cry
Rear entertainment pack whilst present, is wasted in my case as the only occupants in the back are a brace of White West Highland Terriers (or more aptly, Terrors).

There is no mention of Rear Entertainment on AB but presumably they had them ? ? Forty years of progress. 1972-2012
