Service Reset

Hi, I did the service reset the other day (ie; press and hold the left hand button down) and now the information has disappeared. As in, no time display, outside temperature, MPG etc. What have I done wrong and is there any way to get it back? By the way, the service countdown was reset so no worries on that score and it's a 2008 3.6 TDV8.
Cheers in advance.
By the way, a big thumbs up and recommendation for Advanced Factors of Millbrook. Great prices, excellent service and nice guys too boot.

In my experience the reset process works on cars made up to a certain year.

On my 2007 it can only be done with the right kind of diagnostic tool and only when the service due is showing on the dash. The dealer I bought it from had a fairly universal device for doing this kind of thing but it wouldn't reset the service light. Not sure if the tool every one talks about on here would do it. The fact mine was a 2007 onwards seemed to be the main reason I couldn't do it with the reset process.

My local indy services my car every 10k miles which is usually before the warning comes on and then several thousand miles later it comes on and I need to pop in and have the local LR indy reset it then.

From the pages of the tool everyone talks about on here:

Service routines (including service reminder reset) .
