It is just the sort of preventative maintenance job that I really enjoy doing.

Also missing (from the video) was the process to release, and keep released, the EPB.

Had a sticking rear n/s caliper and rebuilt last weekend. Ordered a new piston and seal kit from Brakeparts.co.uk, good quality and reasonably priced. Had to force the piston out with servo assistance as it seemed to very tight. The piston had rust inside the caliper, so i'm thinking the brake fluid was not changed as the main dealer stamps suggest. Rear discs not in the best of condition and have been on the list for replacement. However, after refit and test drive i now have a shiny n/s disc, the caliper can't have been exerting that much force on the disc. Although not binding i suspect the o/s requires a rebuild also. Sorry i didn't take pictures, but there was snow on the ground and i had cold hands. Will take pictures of the o/s when i do that one. |
