Rolling with laughter

I am down to 28mpg now I've got a TVD8 though.
I never got my Td6 under 25(ish), even when I spent a day crawling round London for six hours in heavy traffic.

Some people need to learn economical driving techniques. Whistle

I think I'd struggle to drive much more economically than I am at the moment. As soon as I have to drive up a hill the mpg starts dropping!! Doing 65 on motorway only gets me 24-25ish. Would oil pressure effect mpg? FFRR TD6 HSE

Learn to drive progressively. PCV, LGV drivers are taught this.
Some handy hints here...

I get around 21.5-22.5 mpg from my 3.0d. Best was on a long run as per others comments (@27mpg , but this was at a constant high speed for basically hundreds of miles), however, I do drive quite quick on motorways and also do a fair bit of driving around towns. Steve

Ive regularly had 24mpg out of the S/C on the motorway... sitting at 70mph and ensuring I don't overtake or if I do, do so very slow and smooth.

I get bored after a while and gun it just to hear the supercharger whine so it always gets spoiled Smile

I have 29.1 and it's all urban driving.

Feather light boots and keep it in a high gear if you can make it by backing off the throttle a bit, easy when you know how Wink or use manual over ride.

@ 4Rovers: is that what your display says or is that from a brim to brim check? My urban is never above 22-23 and the best ever is 28 MPG on a 2000 mile run to the alps. Have you a powerbox/chip?

that's what the display says, it seems to match up with what it uses, I did a half full then re filled after 100 miles and it looked like the display was fairly acurate, but I can't always drive it like that, sometimes you just have to floor it Wink

whatever the cost

I can't get mine above 23-24mpg and thats driving boring. If I drive the way I like to I'll get between 21-22mpg. Makes me kinda wish I have a V8 that I would LPG. I guess you learn from experience. A trip to JE in the next few months should give me a few more MPGs and some big smiles as well. FFRR TD6 HSE
