Intermittently stuck in Park

Seem to have an intermittent issue normally first thing in the morning, can’t get the selector out of park, pressing the brake you can hear a little click by the stick but still won’t move, try it a couple times either works or turn the engine off and back on it will go. What stops the gearbox going out of park?

Thanks

Have a check on your gear selector rod alongside the gearbox. These can seize, come loose etc. If forced, rod can bend as well! .

It will move and then be fine all day, then intermittently it just won’t budge. Seems like there is something electronic stopping it moving
