It being Easter time for school holidays may be accounting for the delays for non-flexi? John

Yes for sure also my brother in law who lives in the north told me that the French border control were practicing for a no deal brexit and have to say they were out in force even swabbed the door handles and steering wheel dont think I recall ever seeing them before. Interestingly the delay was at the Brit window not the French one

We had no trouble coming over to france a week or so ago. Lots of roads blocked off on the m20 as potential lorry parks, will they remove them , or make us all line up in single file for 6 months?

We choose to travel avoiding the weekend, so easy.

The French border controls have good days and bad days. We had a good day ( non working to rule) If it’s a bad day, just make sure u have a pot of coffee and sarnie and relax.....getting up tight won’t make them work faster.

Routes.

We travel to south of caen , so your destination may also be achieved by going via caen and past mont st michael. A84. No tolls from caen onwards. Ultra low levels of traffic post Pont de Normandie (spectacular) . Whatever u do avoid Paris and outskirts unless you specifically need to go.

People are all wonderful, no worries.

Enjoy.... Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

The advantage of travelling on a Sunday is that there are no lorries other than the ones carrying perishables. John

Well the story so far. I crossed using the tunnel on Saturday morning and was able to get an earlier train which considering it’s the beginning of the Easter holidays is amazing. The security leaving the UK was no different to what I’ve experienced previously. I have had my steering wheel swabbed a couple of times before because I’m pulled over to the security lane to check my gas is turned off. It didn’t get swabbed this time. I haven’t heard the word “Brexit” at all and the roads seemed deserted. If anything it’s easier than any trip previously due to the lack of traffic. So after three days it’s great.
Come on down. 👍🏻

Moved another four hours south and still no issues. I can honestly say I have had no problems of any kind (apart from my water pump packing up, luckily I had a spare) so the reports of grief are greatly exaggerated. The French people are just as lovely as they always are and no mention of the B word.
Very Happy Thumbs Up

Best run back I've ever had (on the French side)

600 miles in 7 hours Thumbs Up and the first time I've ever run the L405 from full to empty without stopping - but unfortunately that only took around 6 hours - the speed hit the consumption quite hard Embarassed

I had intended a moderate run, but then updated the speed cameras on the sat nav yesterday as a precaution, so on the quiet motorways this morning, moderation went out of the window Twisted Evil

Unfortunately the M20 is a mess - 2 lanes closed off for 'Operation Brock' so a 13 mile 50mph restriction - then not long after that, roadworks and back to 50 again Big Cry

At least Dartford was free flowing for a change.

As a matter of curiosity, has the use of speed camera maps on satnavs been made legal in France recently?

The use of accident black spots is agreed so you’re allowed to use a sat nav which shows an area where accidents happen rather than cameras. My Tom Tom has a ! Show up and a white line along my route over a distance of a mile or so and a camera could be anywhere along the line. There is sometimes no camera at all as far as I can see.

They load as custom POI's on the L405 built in nav - and there's a delete all option that's only a few button presses

Useful to know in case you mistakenly load them & need to remove them again Very Happy

Don't forget that is for fixed cameras. The gendarmes use mobile cameras and some of their equipment allows speed checks by vehicles coming from the opposite direction.

Not forgetting Brigade Mobile on motor bikes.

Also hiding up with speed guns is quite common.
Shocked
They are not noted for flexibility in enforcement.
