Sandy,

Don't know about the virtual licence but my thought was that when you are over here the fines and points are recorded centrally. If you were stopped in a speed check, as opposed to being flashed, they might put their own interpretation on it.

The points accrued, AFAIK, don't currently go on an UK licence. A slight difference here is that you start with 12 points (new drivers 6) and they are then knocked off the total as opposed to adding up. The end result is the same.

All the signs are here https://www.auto-ecole.net/code/regles-de-...e-panneaux

The advance warnings of cameras are at the bottom of the list.

The cameras themselves are in several different forms. The older ones are rectangular boxes with hatching on them but the new ones are variations of tubular poles.

There are some which are facing towards oncoming traffic, can photograph the driver, and some facing to the rear of traffic.

PS. Slightly amused by the quote in the Connexion link "The camera itself also has the ability to change places". Conjures up pictures of war of the worlds machines marching across the countryside. Shocked John

Thanks John
Interesting what you say I never thought about being stopped and yes sure they would add on a bit or a lot.
Ha yes didn't notice the bit about the speed cameras relocating themselves - now we are in trouble

Sandy - do you have a standard UK registration plate ?

I was reasonably careful on the way home last time, but I'm still kind of surprised not to have had something through......

Mine is 2 letters 4 numbers so any automated systems wouldn't be able to figure it out for the UK - I'm wondering if that helps.

On this one it is Alpha number number Alpha Alpha Alpha to be honest Alistair I was a bit cavalier as had never had any before so even when I knew a camera was coming up I just slowed a little (obviously not enough haha)

I guess that counts as a recognisable UK format - mine is in the format for Latvia so I'm wondering if the same number was ever issued there & if someone is getting my tickets.

I tend to slow for the ones I have on the satnav, but likely will always miss at least one....

The towing limit is lower than the UK though - 55 on a motorway - so that's a recipe for flashing.

The last one I was doing 140 so deserve it and for John have read the notice and it states "Payment of the fine entails acknowledgement of the offence and ends the prosecution"
