2011 tdv8 is this normal

Hi
I’ve just taken the airflow pipe off to replace the belt tensioner and came across this 🤔
The car has done 75k and not sure if this would be a normal build up for that mileage, the car runs good
Any thoughts or advice.

I’ve not noticed any smoke on hard acceleration, just checked and it’s not had turbo oil drain modification done.

You'd be shocked at the muck behind the butterfly if you consider that to be bad. It's caused by crankcase oil vapours mixing with EGR soot

Yes did notice the crap behind the butterfly, so from the jist of your answer this is a normal thing to happen?

Unfortunately yes it's normal unless EGR is mapped-out.

It's the pipe that connects the EGR valve to the inlet manifold and it's located at the top of the engine you can't miss it when you take the engine cover off

If you look at the first picture in this post you can see the end of it just behind the throttle body butterfly

Sounds like an easy enough job.
Has the clean up made any difference to the driving experience at all???

Haven’t got to driving it yet as I’m doing a top to bottom and front to back service on it,
Whatever I find that is knackered or looks a bit iffy I’m replacing which so far has been engine front belt tensioner and pulleys, disc and pads all round, all metal brake pipes as very rusted, engine oil plus air/oil/fuel filters, replace antifreeze, new starter motor ( got the dreaded click) diff oil x2, transfer box oil and new filter/ pan on auto box, also checked the rear o ring that leaks but my one is good so far Very Happy
Awaiting delivery of the upper and lower rear knuckle joints for both sides as one has slight play in it also replaced front suspension arms and swivel joints on both sides, I’m sure I’ve forgotten some bits but that’s how far I’ve got so far Very Happy

A Trap

I didn’t know the egr pipes had holes in them, mine and all the photos look like they are solid tubes. Didn’t bother cleaning mine, just stuck them in a bag on the shelf in the garage just for prosperity 👍

I didn't notice any difference only reason I noticed it was because I had to take off the air intake pipe to change the front belt tensioner.
I would think if it did blocked would be like having EGR blanking mod done but without the hassell Very Happy
