Newer infotainment modules?

Hi there

So my Bluetooth is broken in My 07 and looking on here it seem that you can put a 2011 module in so I have ordered one.

If that works from the newer system to the old - does the iPod interface? Or the dab interface as it still uses most? Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

Did you check for compatibility with the earlier (2007 MY) electronics ?
2011 sounds almost too new. There has been discussion about the later models fibre optic system operating differently vs earlier.
When I upgraded ours ( late 2006 model) I used module part no. AH42 10F845 AA - but I'm not sure which model year it was fitted to originally.

Edit : Stan beat me to the comments - lol Paul,

Aha

This is what I must have looked at
https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/new-bluetooth-module.32997/

Now if the Bluetooth module does work from newer has anyone tried any of the others as surely they use the same bus? Current stable:

That part no looks very close to the one I used successfully - only the initial 8 & A are different.
I think that's probably going to work. Paul,

thanks - but that leads to my question - how can the bluetooth work on the new and old systems? Current stable:

I think some of the other units may rely on the screen as well as the unit themselves.

Obviously the screen is a bit different on the L322 to a Disco but you can put an early Disco 4 screen in a Disco3 but the post 2012 stuff runs on a different bit rate. I suspect it is also to do with the interface that runs the MOST loop.

I'm wondering when the CANBus system changed - whether it must have been later.

I found the info that I had originally & it confirmed the AH42 10F845 AA & 8H42 10F845 AA were interchangeable, but no explanation of what was different between them. It also suggested they were both used on vehicles upto 2010. So maybe the CANBus change was after that. Paul,

Yea but that wouldn’t make sense to change half way through the later infotainment setup ... hmmm Current stable:

The canbus changed on MY10 L322 and L320 RRS and the D4 was introduced at MY10 with the new canbus specs. If the VIN has the A or later year indicator preceding the 6-digit number then the vehicle has the new canbus.
