Rear Shock and oil leak

Hi folks, noticed the FF thumping on the rear passenger side shock. Didnt pay much attention but noticed an oil patch on the driveway this morning directly underneath the rear shock so assuming the shock has leaked and gone. I assume this is why its thumping anytime it drives over a pot hole.

1- what part do I need? (Bilsten or Genuine?)
2- do I need to touch or deflate the air system? (I have the IID tool)
3- how long does it take? (What is the complexity level)
4- are there an guides? (I am going through RAVE just now to see if there is anything)

Thanks in advance guys Current:

Ok, so read some threads here and understand the steps.

Just went under the RR and found mine are the CVDs which means they are the dearer ones (cheapest £258 delivered). Unless Duckworths can do any cheaper.

My question is, whats the difference between the older ones and CVDs Current:

Yours (if an 09 facelift) has Adaptive Dynamics i.e. continuously variable suspension tuning

Blurb:
Adaptive Dynamics system uses sensors to monitor the dampers on each wheel 500 times per second to predict the optimum body and ride control settings for the driver's style and the terrain
. Cheers, Greg

Ah.. so its likely to have connection at the top of the mount therefore I would need to replace like for like..

Anyone got any ideas, trips or tricks on an easier way to get to the top of the mount from under the seats? What trim do I need to take off? Current:

3 bolts at the top, flip up back seats , find the 3 bolts just behind the back doors, quite a quick job tbh.

Mr Tee, I had seen the thread you pasted above but couldn't work out how to access the 3 bolts at the top..

I have moved the seat and the carpet feel quite sturdy but after having look at the gallery (was expecting photos in the thread by Watty and it all makes sense. Waiting on the delivery and will report back.

I have one question though.. Looking at Watty's pics, I cant see any electrical connections. Assuming its not the CVDs?

Can anyone confirm?

Many thanks Current:

I’ve just had to do mine - CVT type for adaptive dynamics. The oil reservoir dropped off one and within a few miles, all the oil was gone leaving lots of bounce and noise.

It really was a doddle. Bought Bilsteins from Island 4x4 which were the best price I could find.

After jacking up, you must support the hub to avoid damaging the air bag but thereafter, less than 20’ work per side. Top mounts accessible under the back seat with the carpet pulled aside, wiring just plugs into the damper and the bottom bolt, although looking corroded came out really easily.

Go for it with confidence! Taking a rest from Land Rovers for a bit.......

Thanks Mightymarco.. this is reassuring..

I know they say replace in pairs.. is it an over kill considering the other side is fine? Current:
