I have only changed the fuel filter on mine once, .... it was very tight, particularly the water trap, but I managed it eventually with a few grazed knuckles.

i dont know what an IID is, a bit of googling didnt help much... i was hoping to avoid a "tool" and wondered if there was a way like my Defender where you hold brake and accel, when turing on ignition for x seconds etc.. |

You’ll need an IID Bluetooth to reset the service interval on your vehicle. It’s needed as the oil engine life is calculated in the ECU. Also it will come in very handy for fault diagnosis, altering settings etc etc.Second hand units come up on here or sister sites occasionally and the £25 to change VIN ownership. Or buy new from Dan off here for £405. It will pay for itself in long run and holds its value if you ever need to sell it. Don’t look at anything else. It needs a diagnostic to do it. No other way in your model year. There are cheaper ones around e.g icadsoft LR2 which I think can do it but check. The investment is worth it as the IID does a lot, lot more than anything else out there. Peace of mind to have it in the glove box. Or get an independent service place to do it once you've changed the oil 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

The IID tool is great but you can reset your service lights using the much cheaper and still very useful iCarsoft - available on amazon they make a few versions which are around the £95-£130. It does all the fault code reading and resets as well as most of the live values. A good budget alternative to an IID. |

I’ve had both and wish I’d just saved a bit longer and got an IID in the first place . Sold the icarsoft to a work mate eventually 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

I had the icarsoft before I bought the IID. In my view the icarsoft is just as useful for diagnostics (I had the v2) and a bit of a bargain. Yes you can do more with the IID but in reality beyond switching on DRLs and changing door lock settings (which LR should have just put in the car menus) I doubt most people actually make changes on a regular basis. For diagnostic purposes the icarsoft and IID are about the same.

Adding the numeric (digital) 2nd speedometer is my favourite change that you can do with the iid.
