Handbrake cable bolt

Just looking into my dreaded electronic handbrake cable yesterday and notice the bolt at the back holding it in (near side rear) is missing which probably has helped is failure.

Does anyone know what kind of bolt is it’s? M6? And roughly how long as I went to take the other side out but it’s very tight and don’t want to snap it!

Cheers! Current stable:

Are you talking about the EPB cable to brake backing plate screw?

Torx about 1cm thread length and not likely to snap as hard steel into mild steel through ally' alloy cable head.

Car I'm on is 2006/2010 L322.

Biggest concern would be snapping the seized EPB cable fix plate off when prizing away from the brake baking plate. (I did just that).

Post a pic of your worry, I'm not sure we are on the same EPB end.

Best Rich

On about my 07 Laughing

yes that is snapped too i think - its a plate at the wheel end of the cable the the bolt goes through right? there is a decent chunk of metal left so going to make a small plate to hold it in i think...

Moulded end of the outer cable that allows the cable to be attached to the brake backing plate and also prevents the whole cable from being pulled through when applying the EPB. The screw/bolt does go through it in about the 9 o'clock position.
