Well the key fob actually arrived today from China, I haven't opened it up yet but it certainly looks promising.

Actually I found it pretty easy, used the locating lugs to locate with the corresponding holes on the PCB and put it back together only to find a couple of buttons no longer worked (they lined up perfectly and worked before). I realised that this was due to the fact that the back of the PCB needed supporting and I did it by bending the thing that puts the pressure on the back of the battery up a bit, foam tape or similar would probably work as well, might even be better !
