Good to know thanks - heh I didn't realise the L322 is a early example of a plug in hybrid Smile

Here's a question, is this charging method all good to use when doing live diagnostics with GAP IID tool I wonder?

I understand that battery drain can be a real issue when using the tool so it would be great to keep the charger topping up eg whilst the engine is either idling or not running, ie to eliminate any spurious faults getting reported by low battery condition.

Doing that should not be a problem. As GAP says in its manual don't leave the IID connected as it does draw current. ISTR others on here do that without any problems. Cheers

Richard,
I can’t fathom out why, but I don’t think it works correctly.
It’s quite a while since I tried it when I first bought my iid. I was sat in the garage with my CTEK connected whilst working through all the various menus trying to familiarise myself .
I noticed that the iid showed 12v at first and started dropping, but I knew that with the CTEK connected. it should have been 13v or more., eventually the low battery warning came on so I removed CTEK, started car and iid showed 13.7v .

Oh b****r, down in flames again Laughing

Next time I'll try mine with my Aldi charger and see if that works. Looks like a fair useage on the systems when the "ignition" is on for diagnostics. Cheers

I will also play with it again, but when the weather warms up a bit Rolling with laughter
I think the iid reads false voltages because the charger output is pulsed rather than constant ?.

Mike

I'm not sure on the accuracy of the voltage reading on the IID either, so a voltmeter will be on the battery as a check. Cheers

The IID manual states not to use the Ctek in charging mode as the supply is not clean and steady. The larger Cteks have a Supply mode which should be used with CCF edits. That’s the reason I bought the 10 version 👍
They also warn against running the vehicle in a garage to avoid fumes and death Shocked Censored Rolling with laughter 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
