I'd avoid driving it while you search for the leak, aside of short test drives if you are testing new hoses etc.

You may end up getting a red anyway, it doesn't take much from yellow to red.

In which case you could get your DPF guy to come back because they normally have a device that will clear the red.

The IID won't clear red.

But focus on the leak for now.

As Greg says, get it to a specialist LR independent for a high pressure smoke test.
In the first instance you could whip off the engine cover and have a look for soot around the inlet pipework....

Thanks guys, I will get onto this ASAP, with regard to the 4 hose did you use genuine LR upgraded hoses or just some inter cooler hose the correct size?

I changed mine for blue sparco type silicone as the JLR ones seem to fail too often for my liking...

Nine times out of ten it is just one of the original design hoses that have split.

Hi Guys, quick update, so I have the air intake duct off today and as far as I can see all 4 donuts are fine, no splits or damage, although there was oily residue under 2 of them, not much but something has been leaking there.

Also noticed that the air intake duct outlet where the donuts go are look oval and not round ! I will post photos later to see what you all think.

Another thing is there is an oily residue under the inlet housing to the butterfly valve where the metal clip goes, looks like a common part to have a problem as they are everywhere online.

Hi guys, just a quick update on my ongoing issue. After a lot of diagnostics and test runs, regens and so on I can confirm my problem is indeed a block DPF, but not with soot, hardened ash/rust deposits, so the honeycomb in the DPF is about 70 % blocked, as you can imagine it only takes a little soot to block it and cause problems, unless you continuously drive at 50mph.

So the great guys at my local garage are trying there best to clean/remove the ash/rust deposits, fingers crossed, but if they cannot then its a new DPF for me. OUCH

I don't think there is anything I could have done to prevent this just an age related issue.

jc132jc my suggestion would be to make sure the garage sends your DPF to get properly cleaned. Some clean 'out the back' with a pressure washer which is ok just but not really the proper way. Another cleaning technique is spray in foams and other solutions. Sometimes inserted via the sensor positions. Again ok but not the proper way to clean a DPF despite claims.

Trade places with the right kit such as a 'flash' machine clean DPFs for mechanics all the time. I had mine taken off and cleaned at a specialist with such a machine and they gave me a flow reading print out before and after. It's a big section of exhaust so the machines themselves are quite large to take a DPF without cutting it out too. Also worth checking.

Main thing is to check they are sending it off to a proper place to be cleaned.

Hi, so an update, sorry for the delay, my DPF is knackered as the garage could not remove the hardened ash/rust deposits.

They removed my old one, did 2, yes 2 cleaning cycles on their DPF cleaning machine, this removed a lot of rubbish but the hardened ash remained, so they then tried, carefully, to physically remove the it by hand by some sort of method but still no joy.

I managed to source a new DPF from Poland at a great price compared to LR and this arrived toady and is being fitted Monday.

I will post some photos of the old unit and how bad it is when I get it back.
