I bought a set of inexpensive 20” rims with the standard 255/55R20 tyres to use for winter wheels, but tried them with their standard M+S tyres and the car was transformed. The tramlining was gone, the ride made it feel like a different car and road surfaces and imperfections could be ignored. That was 36,000 miles ago and I’ve never looked back.

Original set up was 22’ wheels with a 40 profile, swapped to 21’ with a 45 profile and noticeably better but still not perfect on poor surfaces. I’ve settled for that compromise at the moment as I like the style of the 21’ wheels and they do give an excellent ride on everything but really poor surfaces.

So I don’t think that’s it. Could be bushes on the ARC as I reckon that are under srain a lot.
