Plastic Enginer Cover Paint

Anybody else find that the silver stripes on your LR engine cover flake off when wiped clean? I've already had mine replaced under warranty and I had hoped they changed the process but the paint has just flaked off again! 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

I just wiped mine all off with white spirit and cleaned with IPA.
The problem is they painted straight over the (very shiny) stripes without keying or priming first -probably in some factory in China.
You can either leave it all black and do it with “Back to Black” product, or degrease, mask off ALL those little stripes key the surface, plastic primer, then silver spray can it. A right faff, in other words!

I have a related question if you don’t mind? Where can you get those 4 rubber grommets under the cover that the 4 ball-and-socket pegs from the engine fit into? Tried ebay and Google, but nothing much coming up?

Any ideas, anyone?

Ford Focus MK2 04-11 1434444 Engine Cover Trim Rubber Mountings Bush Cushion

These are the type I used for the rear back ones in the engine cover , fitted a treat Thumbs Up think I had to slightly trim them a bit to fit
the front ones are different Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Thank you Aljo, I’ll check those out, what tool to mod them with, please? I have a Dremel.
Hadn’t noticed how the front ones are different, I’ll have a look next Weekend when I get time.
Just picked up the car yesterday 3 out of 4 are missing, grrrrrr! Not to mention a few of those push-and-screw trim clips with the “+” sign on top, they are pretty crappy fasteners in a £100K car!

no special tools needed just a stanley knife Thumbs Up

I seem to remember the front ones are a bigger size (although I may be wrong) I had the 2 missing at the rear of the cover Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Hi #Aljo, just to say thanks, the Ford Focus ones off eBay fitted perfectly, no need to cut them down either, just forced the in with my fingers (all four are the same size, bushes that is, not fingers!) They do take some getting in, but then the fit is nice & tight so less likely to drop out again. So for under a fiver, I have a non-rattly engine cover -sorted! Thumbs Up Cool “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

D-OH! So stupid of me to do this purely for the benefit of passing pedestrians I realise, perhaps I’m just being OCD……. Laughing “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
