Following on from DISCO3/4 I thought I would start up a Coronavirus discussion/help thread.

On there we have separate threads and sections but for now let's see how we get on with a single place.

This thread is for general discussion about news & developments but please keep politics out of the mix.

Also please offer advice/tips/best practice or ask questions about what to do if unsure. But take care to only share confirmed good advice, not hearsay, viral Facebook posts etc. Such posts will be removed as they are likely to cause more harm than good.

If you are in need of local assistance - either for yourself or for vulnerable relatives etc - then please ask.

Please don't flood it with offers of assistance, as finding who is where and can do what will end up being a mammoth task.

Post up details of what you need and where (ideally put the location in the subject), and I'm sure we as a community will do what we can to.

I just baked this magnificent Irish Soda bread.

3 cups plain flour.
1 cup milk.
1 egg.
1 teaspoon salt.
1 heaped teaspoon baking soda.

Mix together until firm and in the shape of a ball. Place on a non stick baking tray and cut a 1 inch deep X into the top. Chuck in the over at 250C or baking oven in an Aga for 35 minutes. Job done.

A very simple recipe if you can’t get out for bread and will happily feed 3/4 people for the day 👍

tip..if you're not handy with your cooking hands then visit any supermarket that has an 'in house' bakery, there's always bread available ..

i went to my local asda and apart from the toilet rolls and 'tins' being a bit sparse , all stock was on the shelves, especially fresh veg and fruits.... ... - .- -.

i agree, there will always be those people unfortunately.


when i visited asda monday most had small amounts of goods in their trolleys with a few exceptions of course..


seeing all the shelves mainly stocked will hopefully stop this kind of thing.. ... - .- -.

Anyway, p[lod (in this area at least) are stopping drivers for checks (my daughter, who works in healthcare & wearing fulkl uniform was stopped yesterday). My wife (who works providing homecare for the sick &/or elderly) will be out & so will I to go to work (after all, the middle class need their essential fine foods & wines).

Apart from that I have kept more or less indoors for the last week or so anyway - I have plenty of work to do on "Belmont Bahn". 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

I suppose I had better not post a picture of my 1000 liters of fuel and my filling station I built!!!

i can see fuel prices going down even more as more people stay at home.. ... - .- -.
