Quick question, I've heard the MY18 cars lower more than the earlier cars in access height mode.

Not sure how much or if it even makes a difference, but with that being said, I found that on an MY17 cars the deployables were a nice to have as it was a tiny bit too high to get into without destroying the side of the drivers seat after 6-8 months of rubbing.

Any thoughts on the facelift cars, do they really go noticeably lower or are we talking a few extra MM.

Who ever told you that information was wrong sir... No noticeable height difference from the earlier models

Ah so the ride height lowers the exact same as on an MY17 then?

Strange I thought they changed it a bit on the MY18.

Thanks Stan yeah its not enough sometimes though depending on where you park you end up having to rub the side bolster of the seat which I was trying to avoid.

The exact same??? It maybe a MM or 2 different dependant as to JLR's software... But as a whole, yes the setup will be like for like with the 17MY...

Ok yeah cool so probably a better idea to have deployables then!

Do the deployable ones stay out when the cars parked up, or go in when the car is locked and back out when unlocked. Or are they door related?
I’ve got the fixed ones and I find it handy when having to park in parking spaces. Raise her up to off road mode before I get out and the steps are higher than the average car door so you don’t get dings in your pride n joy. Obviously they’re also good for what they’re ment for also

They disappear when locked up, so you lose the protection from wayward door opening from other cars.

My other half is frequently annoyed when I spend 10 minutes in a car park looking for a space that might make it more avoidable. Sometimes very difficult with the size of a ff in relation to the average car park space.

Paranoid about it to be honest. Although it’s not used as a daily car so not so bad.
I had a family pull up beside me when I had my c63 last year in a Nissan duke. The teenager in the back literally kicked the back door open. I was getting something out the boot at the time and it hit my car so hard the car shook. Luckily the point of his door hit the rear door handle on mine. I did as politely as I could pull him and his parents up on it. They’re reply was “well he didn’t do it on purpose”

Unfortunately RR drivers seem to be down the pecking order when it comes to receiving sympathetic attitudes from other car owners.

With the response often being ‘ you shouldn’t buy such a big car should you’

Is it not still possible to turn the steps off from the screen whilst deployed? 2008 Vogue Black - gone

On my MY14 you can’t do it from the screen but from a switch, it’s a bit of a faff, so I tend not to bother.

Are you possibly getting confused with the SVA ? This does sit 8mm lower. Tony
