Hi All,

Currently in the middle of swapping my engine, has anyone got any tips for removing the front diff and drive shaft that goes through the sump?

Rave is full of special LR tools, hoping someone has some time saving ideas?

Apart from the engine hoist and a ball joint cracker, seems the inboard drive shaft tool and oil ring/bearing setter are the ones most likely to present an issue, But I am certain folks on here have got their driveshafts out and back without "special" tools.... .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember

Right......

Got the B*s*ard ball joints undone today, used a scissor type splitter that was done up until it looked like a banana, some heat applied then a ruddy big pair of hammers.

As for the drive shaft, once the hub was free, I undid the bearing carrier from the sump and levered between a rib on the sump and the bearing carrier and it popped out, not too much force needed.

Then a little bit more levering to get the shaft out of the bearing carrier so it could be withdrawn as the carrier wont fit through the gap where the driveshaft has to go.

No special tools needed.
