2011 4.4TDV8 coolant expansion tank swap

Hi all
I need to swap the expansion tank in my 4.4TDV8

The bottom pipe fitting is new to me, not the common rubber pipe and clamp.

Any tips on how to remove and refit please.

Thank you

I may be wrong but have a loook at the connections on top of the fuel cooler. They have one or two push in plastic pieces

which can pressed in with your fingers or else something like these:-

I think the bottom connectors on the expansion tank may be the same, but require anlged pliers Cheers

Great diagram!
Doesn't quite feel right... but it's hard to see down there. Seems bigger, about 35mm wide?

Thanks

Have a look at the WM in the Wiki for your year and see if you can identify the connection then we can see if my info helps.

Also my bad.

On the nearside bottom connector there is a clip, 3/4 around the hose which is moved out from the connector then the hose can be eased off. There is a recent thread on dropping it Sad Cheers

Found the WM and the picture shows the bottom connector must be removed, but doesn't indicate how :-/ Steve

I think it looks lke this

http://www.carid.com/images/dorman/products/902-714.jpg

and you lever under the small wire clip at the bottom right. As I said there is a thread recently and the poster said to try to avoid dropping it. A piece of wire around that section may help then carefully pull the hose away from the tank connector.

good luck Cheers
Richard

Steve, take air filter box out and you will have plenty of space to work. fitting is like one in the picture posted by rjff. air box is held in place by tree rubber grommets, so just pull it out. 2012 TDV8 Black Edition

Hi Steve. Can I ask why you are changing it? I have a mysterious leak and wonder if you have the same problem. Thanks Kev.

Hi Nino, thanks for the advice, glad I took the airbox out.
Kev, sorry, no leak, sensor got stuck and told the car I had low coolant Steve

So, thanks for the advice, I managed a swap, quite painless, touch wood!

The airbox removal was very helpful, remove the rubber flexi connection pipe, cover the eng air inlet, removed the elec connection, and the little black connectors on the wire and with some wiggle it comes out, no screws or bolts.

I removed the expansion bottle by removing the lower bolt and the upper hose and twisting the bottle you can see the wire clip that needs pulling outwards of the lower connector, wiggle off.

Reverse to fit new bottle. Top up coolant. Steve

It will be nice to see the level of the coolant from the outside mate. Mine is as dirty as your old one and I have to take the cap off to see the level. Dare I ask how much the new tank cost? Cheers Kev.
